Description

Our 9"x72" grow channels are built for serious commercial hydroponic production. They support microgreens, baby greens, leafy greens, and herbs while maintaining clean water flow and strong aeration at the root zone across the full 72" channel length.

Plants anchor well, stay evenly hydrated, and develop healthier roots, which leads to tighter, more uniform growth at commercial scale. Harvesting is fast, contamination risk is lower, and setup stays organized whether you are running a single rack or a full production facility.

The channels are made from durable, food-safe plastic and create a clean, soil-free environment that is easy to sanitize between cycles. They hold a 9 inch (228mm) grow medium and pair perfectly with our reusable 9"x72" grow mats. They also perform well with materials like burlap or biostrate.

These channels are designed specifically for the Commercial Production Rack. The CPR holds 54 active channels simultaneously. Each channel requires one End Cap to seal the inlet end and one Drain Cap to connect the outlet end to your plumbing. Pair with a 9"x72" reusable grow mat to complete your setup.

Benefits

Consistent growth with healthier root development at commercial scale.

  • Plants anchor firmly and stay evenly hydrated across the full 72" channel length, which reduces uneven growth and improves harvest quality across all 54 active channels simultaneously.

Advanced drainage that prevents waterlogging and mold pressure

  • The channel design allows water to flow through completely and return to your reservoir. Roots never sit in standing water, which keeps mold pressure low and root health high across your entire rack.

Easy to clean and built for constant commercial use

  • Food-safe plastic construction creates a smooth, soil-free surface that rinses quickly between cycles. Clogging is rare. Cleaning is fast. The same channel runs cycle after cycle at commercial volume without degrading.

Full 72" coverage with no gaps

  • The channel covers the complete length of a CPR grow slot end to end. No partial coverage, no gaps, no uneven moisture zones at the edges. Every inch of the channel surface is productive.

Pairs with reusable grow mats to eliminate soil costs across the entire rack

  • The 9"x72" channel is designed to work with our reusable grow mats. One mat fits one channel precisely and lasts 65 to 70 cycles. At 54 active channels per rack, switching to reusable mats cuts your annual growing media cost to near zero across your entire operation.

The Commercial Production Rack channel

Six feet of growing surface in a single channel. Fewer channels to fill, fewer to lift, and fewer joints across the same square footage. This is the channel the Commercial Production Rack is built around.

A channel out of the rack. Same handling at six feet.

Dimensions and fit

An empty 9 inch by 72 inch hydroponic grow channel seen at an angle
The 9" x 72" channel (23 x 183 cm), sized to hold a 9 inch (228 mm) wide grow medium.

Water moves along the channel and back to the reservoir instead of sitting in a tray. Roots get oxygen, the crop gets even moisture end to end, and there is no standing water for problems to start in.

Food-grade plastic, smooth interior, and an open profile that rinses out in seconds. The channel is the part of the system you handle most, so it is built to be handled.

What you eliminate

  • Standing water sitting under the root zone
  • Soil in the harvest and soil in the wash water
  • Scrubbing textured tray bottoms between cycles
  • Dry corners and wet middles across a flat tray
  • Replacing cracked single-use trays every season

Harvest weights

Harvest weights by variety for the 9 inch by 72 inch grow channel
Averages from Urban Greens production, not guarantees.

These are the weights the 9" x 72" channel produces across the varieties we run most. Microgreens finish in 8 to 10 days, baby greens in 16 to 17.

Yields move with seed density, water quality, and environment. Treat the numbers as a planning average rather than a promise.

What goes with it

End cap and drain cap fitted to the end of an Urban Greens grow channel
End caps and drain caps close the channel and set where the water leaves.

Each channel needs an end cap at the closed end and a drain cap at the return end. The 9" x 72" channel is designed around a 9 inch (228 mm) wide grow medium.

  • Reusable Grow Mat 9" x 72", cut to this channel
  • Burlap and biostrate also work well

Between cycles

  • Lift the mat and roots out in one piece
  • Rinse the channel interior with clean water
  • Sanitise on your normal schedule
  • Check end caps and drain caps are seated
  • Stack or rack to drain before the next fill
